HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 11/15/1995 - MINUTES Board of Health Village of Elk Grove Village November 15, 1995 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Kenneth Young Mental Health Center. Mitch Bruskl, Director of the Center, gave an overview of the Mental Health Center's activities. The information was helpful to the Board of Health members. They want to be informed of the various services available in the Village. 2. Minutes of the October 18, 1995 meeting were approved. 3. Coordinator's Report - November 15, 1995 Immunization Clinic 49 children were given 95 shots at the October Immunization Clinic. Flu Clinics 1398 Flu shots were given at four clinics in October. This is an increase of 400 over last year, and most were Elk Grove Village residents. Brochures Health Department brochures have been sent to the Library and the Senior Center. Heat Advisory Guidelines A meeting with the Park District will be held to discuss the enforcement of the Heat Advisory Guidelines for the summer months. P.C. The Health Department will be getting another P.C., which will aid us in expanding our needs. 4. Mr. Curatti has discussed the problems Marriott Corporation has had with their school lunches. A letter was sent to the Administration of School District #59 to apprise them of these problems. 5. Health Alliance - Kelly Clancy discussed the Health Alliance Meeting. The four areas they focused on were: 1. Aging - especially the transportation problem. 2. Medically underserved -free clinics. 3. Teen pregnancy - young fathers. 4. Alcohol and Tobacco abuse. They looked at the Woodridge program "Sting Operation" which seems to have been very successful. Kelly will keep us abreast of this group's activities. 7 The Board decided to cancel the December meeting and resume in January on the 17th of the month.
