MINUTES ilk Board of Health *0 Village of Elk Grove Village p/( < 41 April 17, 1996 �GEci�q���F/�6 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:05 p.m. in Meeting Room C of the Village Hall, 901 Wellington. Board Members Present Board Members Absent James Christie, Chairman Kelly Clancy Susan Baker Ray Dean John Bosslet Ray DePalma Dr. Charles Boyajian Dave Dopp Lois Colaprete Dr. John Kelly Bart Dill Dr. Harold Labinsky Std Present Nancy Yiannias, Health Coordinator Guests Victoria Bigelow, Access to Care 1. Victoria Bigelow, President of the Access to Care Program, gave a very comprehensive presentation about her agency. Access to Care is a primary health delivery system for medically indigent of Suburban Cook County. Its service focuses on making physicians and pharmacies available to a segment of the population in Cook County that are uninsured or underinsured. The eligible population must enroll in the system and private physicians participate in the program with very low remuneration for their services. It services 13,000 patients (1/10 of those eligible) and 888 are from Elk Grove Township. It was a "grass roots" project that was founded in the late 1980's and is currently funded by Cook County and other donations. Ms. Bigelow's presentation was very informative. 2. Minutes of the January 17, 1996 meeting were approved. 3. Coordinator's Report - April 17, 1996 Immunization Clinics January Clinic 69 Children 145 Shots February Clinic 54 Children 105 Shots March Clinic 55 Children 108 Shots Minutes - Page 2 Blood Drive 91 Donors participated in the January Blood Drive Budzet It was approved at the April 9th Village Board Meeting. No substantial changes were _ made in the Health Department budget for 1996-97. Compendium The 1995 Compendium was distributed to the Board of Health members. Multi-National Fair The Health Coordinator and the Village Nurse participated in the Fair held by Alexian Brothers Medical Center. The population targeted was the immigrant groups. Summer Heat Advisory Plans are being made for the summer heat advisory. It will involve the Health Department, the Police Department and the Park District. 4.
