HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 01/22/1997 - MINUTES Board of Health Village of Elk Grove Village January 22, 1997 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:00 P.M. in Meeting Room C,lower level of the Village Hall. Meetin¢Schedule The subject of the meeting schedule was discussed by the Board. It was the consensus of the Board that no meeting be held in July and December. They will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. Ten meetings will be held a year unless, at the discretion of the Chairman,the agenda does not warrant that a meeting be held. All members would be notified one way or the other. 2. Coordinator's Report • Revised Proposed Tobacco Ordinance The proposed Tobacco Ordinance changes will be passed at the January 14, 1997, meeting. The Police Department will then initiate a"sting"operation. • Immunization Clinic 38 children were given 66 shots at the November Clinic. No clinic is held in December. • Budyet The Health Department submitted a $285,869, 1998 budget. $4,451 was cut, most of which was a request to upgrade the Senior Clerk to Secretary. A final print out will be submitted from the Finance Department. No date has been set for the review by the Village Board. Board of Health members will be notified of the date. • Household Hazardous Waste Dav The Water Reclamation District met with Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village and Rolling Meadows to discuss a Household Hazardous Waste Day. The Water Reclamation District will donate $20,000 to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to entice them to sponsor such an event in the Spring or Fall of this year. Page 2 Minutes- 1/22/97 • Blood Drive Because of dwindling numbers of donors at Blood Drives recently,two surveys were done to determine if a weekday drive would be preferred. The survey came out 50/50 for Saturdays and weekdays. We decided to hold two Saturday drives (January and October) and two weekday drives(May and July). The first weekday drive will be held in May. • TB Screening Clinics We have added an extra TB Screening session to make five per year. 3. Animal Control Ordinance A proposed Animal Control Ordinance change on the number of animals allowed per residence was discussed. The Board had several questions and comments. Revisions will be made and will be discussed at the February meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
