Compendium The 1998 Health Department Compendium was reviewed. This years compendium showed an overall increase of 57% in environmental health activities and a 5.5% in nursing activities Employee Wellness Program The status of the employee wellness prograrr. was discussed. The access problem with Netscape Navigator still exists, and Informational Systems will be installing Internet Explorer for access to the ABMC web site. Employees will begin in access to the health risk assessment on May 1, 1999. The Health Coordinator will be meeting with ABMC representatives to work out confidentially concerns. Y2K The Village is addressing the Y2K problem and how it might affect residents and businesses. The Health Department will be looking into food distribution (supermarkets), health care (ABMC), and ensuring provisions are in place to assist senior residents. Blood Program Mailings from the blood drives have become very expensive (about $2,500/mailing). Health Department staff, and LifeSource will be researching new ways to promote the Village blood drives. Landmeier Station The Health Dept., Community Services, Fire Dept., and Police Dept. met with representatives of Landmeier Station Apartments. The meeting centered around services that are offered by the four departments. ABMC Complaint Regarding Bio-Hazard Bags Board of Health Members expressed concern about an incident which occurred at ABMC. Red bio-hazard bags were being stored in an open container behind the hospital and birds were pecking at the bags. Hospital staff were notified and directed to maintain bio-hazard bags in closed tight containers. Mr. Christie will be meeting with Mr. Michael Schwartz, President and CEO of ABMC next week, and will discuss this very important issue.
