May 19, 1999
The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

The minutes from the April 21,1999 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
Operation Heart Beat
Jori Ouimet from the American Heart Association (AHA) clarified the AMA Operation
Heartbeat program. They will be conducting a 1-2 year study in the area to survey the
availability of AES's, a communities EMS System, availability to CPR and AED training
programs. At the conclusion of the community study they will pinpoint areas that need to be
improved and implement selected activities to strengthen the chain of survival.
Wellness Program
On May 1, 1999, Village employees went on line to complete the Health Risk Assessment from
ABMC. As of May 13`x, 110 employees had completed the survey. The window of opportunity
to complete the survey will continue the rest of the month.
Environmental Health Inspector
Interviews for the vacated Environmental Health Inspectors position were conducted on May
18`h. Three candidates were interviewed, a candidate currently employed by DuPage County
Health Department was chosen by the review team comprised of Jeff Priebe, Barbara Dumont,
and Michael Cavallini. Confirmation of the candidate will take place within the next few days.
Summer Intern
The Summer Intern began work on May 17t . He is a Village resident and graduate of Eastern
Illinois University.
Blood Donor's Award
Thirty two resident received blood donation awards at the May 11" Village Board Meeting.
Special awards were given to Fred Gerosky fir donating 19 gallons of blood, and the Village for
25 years of services to LifeSource.

Nurse's Report
Barbara Dumont, Community Nurse spoke on the frustrations in trying to increase participation
in the Community Blood Drives. Health Services will continue to look into ways to increase
donations at Village blood drives.
