Village of Elk Grove Village
October 20, 1999
The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:08 p.m.

No minutes for the September meeting were approved due to lack of quorum.
Community Health Nurse
The Community Health Nurse, Barbara Dumont tenured her position on October 1, 1999. An ad hoc
committee comprised of Board of Health members will conduct interview for the new community nurse.
The interview panel will consist of the following Board of Health members.
1. James Christie
2. Lois Colaprete
3. Ray DePalma
4. Terri Dill
Michael Cavallini and Dick Olson, Human Resources officer will also be on the interview panel. The Ad
hoc committee will meet Friday, October 22, 1999 to review the applicants qualifications and set up times
to conduct interviews. The committee will also meet on Wednesday, October 27, 1999 to review the
Community Health Nurse job description.
Employe Wellness Program
Michael Cavallini, Health Services Coordinator presented a grid of the health risks, concerns, and out-
comes concerning the employee health risk assessment and subsequent group aggregate report. The ad
hoc employee wellness committee (James Christie, Dr. Charles Boyajian,Kelly Clancy), and Health
Coordinator Michael Cavallini will set up a meeting with the Personnel Committee in the near future to
discuss the finding of the survey, and how to proceed with the employee wellness program.
Neighborhood Preservation and Maintenance Ordinance
Health Services and the Engineering and Community Development Department met the JPZ Committee
on October 18, 1999. Since a quorum was not present no formal discussions took place. Another
meeting will be scheduled in the near future.
American Heart Association
The AHA is continuing their information gathering on the accessibility to Automatic Electronic
Defribillator's (AED's)by the residents of the three target communities. Another survey was distributed
and will be discussed at the next meeting.
Fuel Oil Spill—ABMC
A fuel oil spill occurred at ABMC on September 29'". The fuel oil worked its way into a storm sewer that
flows into the pond at Circle Bay Estates. An environmental cleanup company has been working on
cleaning up the spill. The IEPA and Water Reclamation District are monitoring clean up.
Y2K
The Village is fine tuning its Y2K plan to ensure that in the event utilities or public services shut down,
the Village will be prepared to handle any emergencies. Health Department staff will call in after
midnight, January 1, 2000 to check if their services will be needed.
Environmental Health Inspector's Report
Several new food establishments are scheduled to open. These include Cucina Roma,
7-11/Citgo, Bravo Pizza, and The True World Market.

Round Table
Susan Baker asked about the availability of lightning detectors in the Village. Small lightning
detectors are being utilized at golf courses, athletic events, school functions to detect and track
thunderstorms. The Health Department will check with the Park District.
