March 15, 2000
The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:14 p.m.

Dr. Harold Labinsky chaired the meeting in the absence of James Christie.
The minutes from the February 16, 2000 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
Employee Wellness
Health Services will be conducting a blood pressure screening for Village employees as part of
the Village Wellness Program. Health Services started with employee blood pressures because a
high number of employees (39%) responding in the health risk assessment that they did not know
their blood pressure.
Operation Heart Beat
On May 23, 2000, the American Heart Association will be hosting a breakfast for corporate and
community leaders to promote the use of AED's in the work place and community.
Property Maintenance and Appearance Ordinance
No major changes will be made to the current property maintenance programs conducted by the
Health, Building, and Police Departments,
Household Hazardous Waste
There will be three (3) household hazardous waste collection events held in the area in April and
May.
Ticket Writing Power
Because of repeated violations observed in the Environmental Health Inspectors report a
question was asked about ticket writing and ticket costs. The Health Coordinator will address
the issue
With the Village Attorney.
Community Health Nurse
Jane Sloger, Community Health Nurse, gave highlights of her first six (6) weeks on the job. She
will be conducting Day Care Center and In-House Day Care inspections with the Environmental
Health Inspectors next month. She also had an incident with a resident who has MS and home
care provider. Jane also stated that she is getting other referrals for home care visits.
Jane and Tom, the Environmental Health Inspector conducted an inspection of a home where the
woman kept 20 cats. The woman was undergoing a new therapy and it was difficult for the
woman to get around. Her home care givers were helping her to find homes for the cats.
