program. Sixteen employees donated blood. The Community Health Nurse will be providing a
blood sugar diabetes screening on May 25, 2000. Health Services is also considering conducting
a cholesterol screening for employees. Dr. Boyajian raised some concerns regarding testing
parameters and protocol for wellness screenings. Some issues presented were;
a. should a signed consent form be provided?
b. how would we ensure that the fine nuisances of a diagnosis are being addressed?
c. if problems are found, will we provide the employee with recommendations t follow
up with their own doctor?
He also felt Health Services should check the standing orders with Dr. Abrams to make sure the
mechanisms are in place to cover any contingencies with employee screening. Dr. Boyajian
went on to say that the Village Attorney could be consulted on the legal issues involved with
screening (diagnosis). The Health Coordinator and Community Health Nurse will explore these
issues as the wellness program progresses.
