Because a quorum of the board members was not present, no formal Board of Health meeting
was held. A number of importance issues were discussed with the board members in attendance.
TB Screening
The Environmental Health Inspectors will be checking food service and food store, personnel TB
records starting in January 2000. During routine inspections the inspectors will cross check
employee lists with TB records to ensure food establishments are complying with the ordinance
pertaining to biennial TB checks for employees.
Flu Clinics
Because of problems in the manufacturing of vaccine for the 2000 flu season, the CDC is
recommending that health agencies delay administering flu shots until at least November. The
CDC has also lowered the target age from 65 to 50.
Restaurant Hearing
The Health Department is considering taking enforcement action against a restaurant that
numerous non-compliance inspections, and has been issued five tickets for repeated violations.
Hearing procedures were discussed and Board of Health member will be available if a hearing is
required. The reinspection will take place on August 28, 2000.
