The minutes were amended to show that Sal Pace was present at the March meeting. The minutes
from the March 20, 2002 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
Kenneth Youne Centers
The Board of Health and Health Coordinator would like to thank Mitch Brusky, CEO, Lois
Colaprete, Administrative Assistant, and the entire Kenneth Young Centers staff for the
informative tour of their facilities, refreshments, and use of their meeting room to conduct the
monthly Board of Health meeting.
Flu Vaccine
Obtaining flu vaccine inexpensively, and in sufficient quantities will continue to be a problem
this year as well. The Illinois Public Health Association(IPHA)has informed us that vaccine will
cost$62.50/vial ($6.25/dose+$00.40 for membership fees will cost us $6.65/dose). They have
also told us we will not be able to receive our full complement of vaccine. Their supplier,
Adventis, will not be able to provide the entire amount requested by the consortium. They are
hoping to fill the rest of the order with another flu vaccine supplier.
Employee Wellness Proeram
The health department and LifeSource will be holding a blood drive on Thursday, April 251" from
2:OOPM to 8:OOPM. The extended hours are to allow Village employees to donate blood as part
of the Employee Wellness Program. In addition, the Committee will be hosting lunchtime Yoga
demonstration on the same date from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Day Care
It was too late to place an article in the Village Newsletter regarding daycare operations. The
Health Coordinator will prepare an article for the next newsletter. The Health Coordinator did
provide the Board with a brochure on general daycare information.
A reinspection was performed at LaPetite Academy on April 8t". No major violations were
observed at that time. A reinspection is scheduled for sometime in June.
American Heart Association (AHA)
The AHA will be conducting CPR training on April 27`h at Elk Grove High School from 9:OOam
to 1:OOPM. This CPR class does not qualify:Por certification.
Day Care Inspections Forms
The Community Health Nurse and Environmental Health Inspectors have designed new daycare
inspection forms. The old forms have been used since 1987. New forms were included in packet.
Computer Recvclina Event
On May 11 there will be a computer& elecixonics recycling event in Schaumburg at the
Motorola Campus. The event will run from 9:OOAM to 3:OOPM.
Latex Paint Disposal
The Health Coordinator provided information on latex paint disposal. Residents are able to
dispose of and pick up free latex paint in Du Page County at the wastewater treatment plant in
Woodridge. An article on latex paint disposal was also included in the current Village newsletter.

The meeting commenced at 7:08 p.m.
Let the minutes show that Dr. John Kelly was Acting Chairman during the absence of Chairman
James Christie
The minutes from the December 19, 2001 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
TB Ordinance
The amendments to the TB Ordinance (see December meeting) go into effect this year. In order
to allow time for food establishment owners operators to comply, Health Services will give them
until April Pt. After that date the Environmental Health Inspectors will begin checking TB
records for compliance. The Health coordinator presented the letter to be mailed to all food
establishments informing owners/operators of the new requirements. Included with the letter are
times and dates of various TB clinics and resources in the area.
Trash Homes
The Board of Health reviewed a memo to the Village Manager from the Health Coordinator
regarding five (5) "Trash Homes" in the last 3 months of the year. Jeffrey Preibe, Environmental
Health Inspector was also present at the meeting to answer any questions regarding"Trash
Home"investigations and remediation.
Blood Awards
The Health Coordinator sent a memo to the`Village Manager with the recommendations of the
Board of Health regarding the blood awards. The recommendations are as follows:
• One to four gallon donors would be awarded with a certificate of appreciation. Presently
donors are given a plaque. The certificate would be mailed to the donor's home.
• All donors reaching certain donation amounts (5, 10, 15, etc.) would be presented with a
plaque or incremental brass plate. As before these awards would be awarded by the Mayor at
a special ceremony.
• Past donors that pn _y have plaques would continue to re._, o their one-gallon
incremental brass plates. They would be mailed to donors unless they reached the milestone
amount.
Environmental Health Inspector
Carrie Johnsen was hired as the new Environmental Health inspector to replace Stanley
Ciezczak. Carrie will start work on January 2151.
Employee Wellness Proeram
A copy of the current Employee Wellness Newsletter was included in the Board of Health
packet. The Wellness Committee will be gearing up for the yearlong wellness program set to
begin on February 4`n
Enforcement Fee Increase
On January 8 1h the Village Board passed ordinance#2873 which increases the fees for health
services issued citations and re-inspection fees. Enforcement tickets will increase from $25.00 to
$50.00. Fees for second re-inspections will increase from $50.00 to $100.00.
Environmental Health Inspector's Report:

Community Health Nurse Report—January
The Community Health Nurse and Environmental Health Inspector appeared in court with La
Petit Academy Day Care Center. La Petit Academy's lawyer asked for a continuance until
January 25`n. A hearing is still scheduled for February.
