Tosto, Chairman John Black, Consulting Engineer Ronald L. Chernick Ray Peterson, Village Engineer Steve Uhlarik Pete Wolter, Water Foreman Tom Cech, Director of Public Works Daily Herald Meeting convened at 7:10 P.M. Chairman Tosto opened the meeting by stating the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Water Works System Report dated February, 1984, prepared by John Black, Consulting Engineer. John Black summarized his report. Highlights included: - February, 1984 report was an update of a 1981 preliminary report. This was necessary because JAWA had substantially progressed with their design and more detailed information was now available. - Piping to connect the four (4) JAWA delivery points to our system was required. (Dierking/Vera Lane, Wellington/Biesterfield, Gibson/California, and Lee Street/Northwest Point Development) . - Retention of 8.5 million gallons of storage capacity was needed per Water Purchase Agreement. - Retention of booster pumping capacity at Stations 2,6,8,9,11 wa:a needed for diurnal peaking and fire flow requirements. - Optional main reinforcement near the California/Gibson delivery point was identified. - Station piping modifications at #2,6,8,9, & 11 to fill storage from the distribution system was required. - Modifications to chlorinator equipment at #2,6,8,9 & 11. - Testing and rebuilding as necessary booster pumps that are to be retained to provide maximum energy effeciency. - Modifications to telemetry and control system and addition of supervisory control capability. Discussion among those present followed. Highlights include: - Expected delivery date of Lake Michigan Water is May, 1985 - Much of the work needs to be done prior to the May, 1985 delivery date. 1 of 2 - continued - Minutes - Capital Improvements Committee Meeting - However some work in the area of system control can and should be done after Lake Michigan water is being delivered. - Project will probably involve several construction contracts and maybe some direct purchase of equipment by the Village to ex- pedite the project. - The major piping contract should take about 3-1/2 months to design and about four months to construct. other smaller contracts will be designed and constructed concurrently over the next twelve (12) months. - Engineering design work should begin as soon as possible to meet the May 1, 1985 deadline. - Funds in the amount of $700,000 are included in the 84-85 Budget for this purpose and are believed to be sufficient. The committee members unanimously recommended that the Village Board at their April 24, 1984 meeting authorize staff to immediately secure engineering con- gUltante to begin detailed deign work for this project. Biesterfield Road Improvement (FAUS) There will be a public information meeting regarding this project on April 30, 1984 at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Peterson indicated that public notice is being provided and the engineering consultant, Midwest Consulting Engineers Inc., will be present to describe the project and answer any questions. 6-y/to Thomas J.
