Boffice, Village Engineer Ronald Chernick, Committee Member Dennis Gallitano, Committee Member The meeting was called to order in the Elk Grove Village Municipal Building by Trustee Tosto at 7:09 p.m. on Monday, July 74, 1986. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a public sidewalk waiver request along Busse Rood and to review a proposed Ordinance relative to minimum landscaping requirements. 1. METRO SELF STORAGE - SIDEWALK WAIVER The Committee reviewed a request from Metro Self Storage located at 7750 Busse Road to waive the requirement per- taining to the construction of public sidewalks along the Busse Road frontage of the property. In a memo dated June 23, 1986, the Village Engineer recommended waiving the sidewalk requirement due to the fact that: 1.)no other sidewalks exist along Busse Road and pedestrian traffic is minimal and, 2.) the existing drainage ditch along Busse precludes the installation of the walk. Based on the Statement of Commitment to Construct Public Walk which has been received from Metro Self Storage, the Committee unomiously recommends that the sidewalk waiver be granted. 2. MINIMUM LANDSCAING ORDINANCE The Committee reviewed on Ordinance prepared by the Village Attorney pursuant to recommendations mode by the Village Engineer relative to minimum landscaping requirements for office, business, industrial and multi- ple-family developments. The Village Engineer presented a site plan for the Elk's Crossing Shopping Center depicting how the site would look if the new Ordinance was adopted. cont'd... Page 2 It was the concern of the Committee that the Ordinance provisions requiring trees and shrubs for developments within the industrial districts be excluded. The pro- visions for the planting of landscaping on industrial zoned lots would be applicable only to those indus- trial zoned lots which lie adjacent to office, business or residentiolly zoned property. The remainder of the provisions of the proposed Ordinance would apply to all zoning districts as drafted. The Committee unomiously recommended that the Ordinance be adopted as amended, and requested the Village Engineer to contact the Village Attorney to revise the Ordinance pursuant to their discussion. The Committee also discussed the grandfathering of the minimum parking lot paving requirements for lots already existing within the Village. It was the concensus of the Committee that the parking lot maintenance Ordinance, being drafted at this time, would provide the Village with the necessary power to insure that existing parking lots were properly maintained and that the new paving standards need not apply to existing developments. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Respectfully Submitted: moJ. B ick P.
