COMMITTEE MEETING

The meeting was called to order in the Elk Grove Village Municipal Building
by Trustee Tosto at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 1987. The purpose of the
meeting was to review and discuss a public sidewalk deferment request submitted by
the Trammell Crow Company for the J. C. Penney warehouse at 851 Devon Avenue.
Trustee Tosto recapped the Village Engineer's memo of January 28, 7987.
This memo indicated that the owner hod received an engineering permit in 7986 for
the expansion of the existing parking lot. Public sidewalk hod not been installed at
the time of original building construction, and the expansion of the parking lot alone
could not mandate its installation at this time. In lieu of forcing the installation of
sidewalk which was not required by Village Code, the Engineering Deportment suc-
ceeded in obtaining a Statement of Commitment to Construct Public Sidewalk
from the owner.
Discussion continued as to the need for public sidewalk at the intersection
of Lively and Devon because of its location on a bus route.
Trustee Gallitano recommended that the Village request similar side-
walk commitments from the Trammell Crow Company for their existing buildings
on both the southeast and southwest corners of Lively and Ookton. If received,
Trammell Crow would be allowed a three year time period to construct all walks
adjacent to their existing buildings.
Members present unamimously recommended the acceptance of the
Statement of Commitment to Construct Public Sidewalk and directed the Village
Engineer to write the Trammell Crow Company seeking additional Sidewalk Com-
mitments on adjacent property.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at
7:55 p.m.
