The purpose of the meeting was to review the engineering plans for the reconstruction of Pratt Boulevard between Busse Road and Elmhurst Road. The Village Engineer summarized the proposed design indi- cating that Pratt Boulevard would be reconstructed to provide four (4), twelve foot wide lanes constructed of reinforced concrete. The center drainage ditch would be enclosed with new storm sewers installed in the parkway areas. A 19.5 foot parkway would be provided between the proposed curb and sidewalk on both sides of the street. The engineer continued by indicating that the existing concrete pavement, carriage walk and grass median beginning at Busse Road and continuing east for approximately 1,000 feet would not be removed and replaced but would only receive rehabilitation, i.e. , damaged pavement, curb and gutter and sidewalk would be replaced where necessary. The project would then terminate approximately 150 feet west of Elmhurst Road and temporarily use the existing Pratt/Elmhurst intersection pavement. The termination of this project prior to the Pratt/Elmhurst intersection would allow for the intersection to be completed under the Elmhurst Road FAUS Project (late 1989) and save the Village a considerable amount of money. Upon further review and after ensuring that adequate funds were available for the project, the Committee agreed to recommend to the full Village Board that the Village Engineer be directed to advertise the Pratt Boulevard Reconstruction Project for competitive bidding and to proceed with the reconstruction of the roadway. Pa ge 2 The Village Engineer then reviewed the existing and proposed parking regulations on Nicholas Boulevard and Pratt Boulevard. Prior to the reconstruction of Nicholas, as well as Pratt, there was insuf- ficient space to allow on street parking. Now that Nicholas has been reconstructed, and, similarly with Pratt, there is sufficient room to allow on street parking on both sides of the street while providing driving lanes in each direction. Since most streets in the industrial district allow 2-hour parking on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. it was suggested that the parking regulations on Nicholas be changed to allow for similar regulations. Pratt Boulevard could then follow after its reconstruction. The Committee recommended that the Chief of Police study the Nicholas Boulevard parking regulations for possible modification as suggested, and, to report his findings and recommendations to the Village Board. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. Respectfully Submitted: Alan J BO-f-KCA, VfIl6ge Engineer AJB:pp c: Committee Members Admn.
