Minutes of the Tuesday, February 6, 1990

Chairman Tosto Thomas J. Cech, Director of Public Works
Trustee Chernick Scott Bernholdt, Administrative Assistant
Trustee Petri Richard Edwards, Street Superintendent
Members of the press were also present.
Chairman Tosto called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting was to review Mr. Cech' s recommendation
for the 1990 Street Maintenance Program.
At Chairman Tosto Is request, Mr. Cech highlighted the proposed
program and briefly compared it with last years. Discussion and
questions followed.
Mr. Cech was directed to consider:
1. Removing Estes between Touhy & Lively - dependent upon the
construction schedule.
2. Adding Lunt - between Lively & Tonne.
The process of milling was discussed as compared to heater
scarification as a surface preparation method. The street
patching methods were also discussed.
Trustee Petri compiled a brief list of corners that will require
the concrete ribbon in back of the curb. Discussion of the
problems caused by trucks backing into loading docks (especially
on Tonne) ensued.
The Capital Improvements Committee unanimously recommended:
1. Approval of the 1990 Street Maintenance Program (Proposed) .
2. Appropriation of $621,600 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for this
program.
3 . Appropriation of $189 ,050 of 1990-91 Corporation funds for
this program.
4. Authorization for staff to advertise and accept bids for work
included in this package.
The meeting was adjourned by Trustee Tosto at 8: 38 pm.
