Cech, Director of Public Works Michael W. Falls, Assistant Director of Public Works Mark A. Giffin, Administrative Assistant Public Works Harvey Goeddeke, Foreman of Street Maintenance The meeting was called to order in the Trustees Conference Room at 7:30 pm by Michael Tosto. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the upcoming 1986 Street Maintenance Program. The Director of Public Works summarized the proposed program: - Estimated 9,000 lineal feet of deteriorated curb and gutter are proposed for removal and replacement. - Estimated 22,000 square feet of sidewalk is proposed for removal and replacement. - 9.23 miles or 167,012 square yards of pavement are proposed for patching, milling, and resurfacing (46 streets) . - Application of a fabric prior to resurfacing to reduce reflective cracking and seal the base material from water penetration. The use of this fabric is limited to the streets in very poor condition. - Estimated cost of the program is $848,448. Discussion included what benefits would be obtained with the use of the pavement fabric. Only the streets in the worst condition would be treated with this material. This included the streets south of Nerge and west of Meacham, in addition to J.F. Kennedy Bouelvard. In addition it was concluded that Public Works would look at its long-term street maintenance needs, in order to better determine if a suppliment to MFT funds would have to be appro- priated on an annual basis. The Committee recommended: 1. Approval of the program as submitted. 2. Appropriation of $500,000 of MFT funds and $348,448 of "Capital Projects" funds for this purpose, which will be included on the next Village Board agenda. Respectfully Submitted, Mark A.
