Mr. Cech highlighted the proposed 1,994 Street Maintenance Program. 11.57
miles and 181,341 square yards of pavement is suggested for resurfacing.
13 ,000 lineal feet of curb and gutter and 30,000 square feet of sidewalk are
proposed for replacement. The estimate of cost is $943, 031. Ample MFT funds
are available for this purpose.
A comparison of the last three (3) years programs was presented as follows:

The .committee questioned staff about railroad crossings on Lively, the
crossing on Devon, and various streets including Wildwood, Lively, and Nerge
extension. Emphasis was made on appropriate traffic control measures during
construction. Some of the streets on the 194 program were last resurfaced in
1986. They are not holding up as :long as we would like because they are
constructed of a "poz" base material which has proven to be an inferior
quality base material. The other "non-poz" based pavements on the 94 program
have performed well, having been last resurfaced 11-20 years ago.
The committee reviewed the proposed program and recommended Village Board
actions as follows:
Approval of the 1994 Street Maintenance Program as proposed in Mr.
Cech's memo of 12/16/93.
Adoption of a resolution appropriating $658,531.00 of motor fuel
tax funds for the program for the contract resurfacing and asphalt
material purchase aspects of the program.
Appropriation of $276,400.00 of 94/95 General Corporate funds for
the contract sidewalk and curb replacement aspects of the program.
Authorization for staff to advertise and accept bids for the work
included in the program.
