The meeting was opened and introductions were completed at 7:00 p.m. by Trustee Petri.
The first item discussed was a proposed increase in the radius of the intersection of West
Glenn Trail at Biesterfield. Much discussion was presented by Mr. Boffice and the
members of the Traffic Advisory Committee in reference to citizen concerns around Link
School. The proposed widening of the intersection would allow buses arriving to and
leaving the school more room to complete their turns. The increase to a 30 foot radius
would bring the intersection up to nalional engineering standards for a cost of about
$4,000.
The consensus of the Committee was to recommend to the Village Board the approval of
the project at their next meeting.
The next item discussed was the area of the Post Office at Landmeier and Tonne and
additional crossovers along Tonne Road. It was the consensus of the Committee to
approach the Post Office and see what the feasibility would be that they would install
signage notifying motorists that they can drive around the back of the Post Office to exit
onto Landmeier. The exit would allow the motorists to travel west bound on Landmeier
and make a legal left turn onto Tonne through the existing parking lot. Currently when a
motorists exits the parking lot onto Tonne they can not legally make a U turn or left turn
onto south bound Tonne. It was also the consensus of the Committee to have staff look
into the feasibility of installing additional information signs along Tonne and a crossover at
Fargo to help the flow of traffic.
The next item discussed was the sidewalk along Plum Grove Road. Staff had been asked
to research the feasibility of installing a sidewalk on the east side of Plum Grove Road
from Biesterfield to University. Staff advised that as part of the Bicycle Path the Village
of Schaumburg will be building a sidewalk along the west side of Plum Grove north from
Biesterfield.
It was the consensus of the Committee not to continue with the idea of a sidewalk on the
east side of the street given the plans of the of Village of Schaumburg.
The last item discussed by the Committee was the Industrial Park Revitalization Program,
Although at least a year and a half away Trustee Johnson was looking for alternative ways
of funding the start of the program without proposing additional taxes, It was the
consensus of the Committee to have staff research any surpluses which may exist in the
Motor Fuel Tax and the Capital Project Fund.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
