1996 Street Maintenance Program
The committee reviewed the program proposed by staff and made the
following recommendations:
Approve the program as proposed in the December 8, 1995 memo
from the Director of Public Works to the Village Manager.
Appropriate $869,300 of MFT funds for the asphalt resurfacing
and concrete curb and sidewalk portions of the program.
Authorize staff to advertise and accept bids on the work
included in the program.
It was noted that the 1996 program is slightly larger than the 1995
one but, smaller than the 1992 through 1994 programs. MFT revenue
for 1996 is estimated at $834,000. Anticipated MFT fund balance on
5/1/96 is projected at $1.8 million.
Soundproofing of 666 Landmeier Facilitv
The committee made the following recommendations:
Not to proceed with a study at a cost of $5000.
Not to erect a soundproof barrier/fence costing $100,000.
Plant screening on private property as an option if requested.
It was noted that signalization of the Landmeier/Tonne intersection
has moved more internal traffic to the west side of the facility
and away from the homes. Public Works has also added to the
existing evergreen screen along the east property line. Noisier
weekend and early morning activities have been rescheduled where
possible. These actions have mitigated the noise situation.
Planned relocation of the Fire Station and salt storage facility
should provide further mitigation in the future. It was further
noted that no complaints have been received in the last 6-9 months.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
