Landmeier Facility
Residents from Redwood Avenue expressed concerns about Village's Landmeier
Facility abutting their properties. The concerns were visual appearance, pollution(dust&
dirt) and mainly noise emanating from the:Landmeier Facility. Residents suggested
moving facility to an industrial section of Village. A sound barrier wall was also
suggested. Committee presented cost estimates of$7,000,000 and $100,000+,
respectfully, for resident's suggestions. Committee offered several less expensive
alternatives. Discussion of concerns and possible solutions continued. The consensus
of the Committee is to recommend the following plan of action for Village Board
approval:
• Replace older 6' high wooden privacy fence along east side of Landmeier
Facility with 8' high wooden privacy fence.
• Install a reasonable amount of additional landscape screening(evergreen
trees) in rear yards of abutting Redwood Avenue properties if residents
request it and area can accommodate it.
• Reduce truck traffic on east side of building by closing east driveway to
truck traffic. To be implemented in 4-6 weeks when Underground Storage
Tank Project is completed.
• Reduce truck traffic on east side of building in early morning hours by
reversing flow of traffic inside garage. This change would have truck traffic
entering doors on east side of building at end of work day and exiting
building through west doors in early morning. To be implemented in 4-6
weeks when Underground Sto:rage Tank Project is completed.
• Move debris storage farther away from homes. This would be accomplished
when salt storage facility is completed on Oakton Street. Debris would be
relocated to bins that currently store salt.
Notify Redwood residents when this matter will be considered by Village
Board.
Conduct a follow up meeting with Redwood Avenue residents in May or
June.
Residents thanked Committee for opporlunity to express their concerns and were
generally pleased with outcome of meeting.
The Meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
