Johnson, Village Trustee S. Lissner, Village Trustee ILL E Wayne Laursen, Commonwealth Edison Rich Mullin,Commonwealth Edison T. Cech, Director of Public Works Street Light Maintenance: Committee reviewed Commonwealth Edison's performance on street light maintenance in the Village. Per the Committee the situation is improving. In December, 1995 94 lights were not operational. The current outage list includes 47 locations. Commonwealth Edison has not been satisfied with their performance. They explained they had fallen behind because of the very hot weather last summer. Crews were reassigned to repair and maintain electric service to homes and businesses at the expense of street light maintenance. Also, most electric cable is underground in Elk Grove Village and this is causing problems. The aggressive soils in the Village are causing premature cable failures. Over$200,000 has been spent this year by Commonwealth Edison to replace defective underground street light cable which is being installed in plastic duct for longer service life. Committee requested continued effort by Commonwealth Edison to reduce the number and length of outages. Also, more communication from Commonwealth Edison about status of repairs was requested. Commonwealth Edison agreed to accommodate the requests of the Village. Ridge Avenue Water lain Replacement: Committee discussed May 14, 1996 memo from Director of Public Works regarding Ridge Avenue Water Main Project. Committee unanimously recommends that the middle section of the water main between Elk Grove Boulevard and Clearmont be replaced with the other sections for the reasons stated in the Director's memo. It was noted that the construction contract and the 1997 Water& Sewer Budget will need to be increased by approximately $56,600. Committee suggested reviewing Infrastructure Replacement Projects on a case by case basis rather than establishing a general policy that could fit all situations. cr(c60603rl) c: President and Board of Trustees Village Manager Assistant Village Manager Administrative Assistant Village Clerk Village Attorney All Department Heads
