Perrie Grove Drainage Structure
Committee visited the site of the drainage structure on the Commonwealth
Edison side of the Perrie Grove Apartments. Committee also visited a
similar structure with grate protection at Jenson Park on Virginia Drive
near Florida Lane.
Alternate improvements to restrict: people from entering the large storm
sewer pipes were discussed. Refer to attached memo dated July 1, 1997
from Director of Public Works.
Committee unanimously recommended a modified option #3. This
improvement includes the installation of seven (7) vertical grates. It would
cover the five (5) pipe openings in the structure behind the Perrie Grove
Apartments and two (2) additional openings in a headwall downstream of
the apartment complex. Estimated cost of the revised option is $3,500 for
materials and galvanizing. In house labor will be used to fabricate and
install the improvement.
