Members Present: Trustee Feichter, Chairman Trustee Dill Trustee Petri Staff Present: G. Parrin, village Manager _ A. &office, DE/CD COSMAN ROAD SIDEWALK The Village Manager advised the Committee that the Cook County Forest Preserve District indicated their willingness to permit the installation of an eight foot wide asphalt bicycle path on the north side of Cosman Road from the existing Forest Preserve bicycle path at the Cosman bend to Winston Drive. The need for the path involved concerns for walkers, cyclists, rollerbladers and skateboarders who were required to use the street pavement due to the lack of an off-street pedestrian route. Trustee Feichter indicated that he jogged in this area and felt that safety was compromised due to the lack of an off-street path. The need for such an off-street path however, did not appear to be that great. Trustees Petri and Dill agreed that they did not see the need for the path. Trustee Dill asked if the request for the path was in response to concerns transmitted to the Village. Trustee Feichter advised that the pedestrian path at this location was one of the Village Presidents' top priorities. Trustee Dill indicated that the Committee had to make a determination based on its own knowledge of the need. After further review, the Committee unanimously recommended that the off-street pedestrian path not be constructed. ROHLWING ROAD SIDEWALK Trustee Petri recommended that the proposed sidewalk on the east side of Rohlwing Road between Biesterfield and Woodland Meadow Park be changed to asphalt. The estimated cost for an asphalt path was estimated to be fifty percent (500) of the cost of a concrete path or approximately $17, 500. The Committee unanimously recommended that the sidewalk material be changed to asphalt at this location.
