ELECTRICAL LINES - COSMAN/BEISNER ROADS
The Director of Engineering & Community Development displayed an
aerial photograph and summarized the project location. It was
noted that the overhead electrical lines are currently located in
the parkway along Cosman Road and adjacent to Alexian Brothers.
The remainder of the lines are located in easements on private
property. In some areas, the easements and overhead lines were
not at the rear property lines, but actually well within the lots
themselves.
Committee members discussed the reduction in costs for this
project which were mainly due to the relocation of the electrical
lines to Village and Forest .Preserve District property located
in the area. This relocation allowed for the lines to be
installed by the trenching method instead of the directional bore
method. It was noted that little, if any, private property would
be disturbed during construct.[on. The current estimate of cost
for the project is $362, 942. Previous estimates ranged from
$612, 120 to $780, 000.
Committee members reviewed the safety concerns and history
identified by the residents at previous meetings and the reasons
why this remained the only residential area located along
Village-maintained streets with overhead electrical distribution
lines. The committee felt that these lines should have been
buried many years ago as they are in other areas of the Village.
The committee briefly discussed methods of funding and determined
that the project should be funded entirely with Village funds
from the Capital Projects Fund'.
The committee unanimously agreed to recommend to the President
and Board of Trustees that the project should be approved and
funded with Capital Project Funds. A total of $400, 000 for this
project has been identified in the FY 1998, 1999 budget.
