ELECTRICAL UNDERGROUNDING ALONG COSMANROAD
The Assistant Village Manager reported that Commonwealth Edison was
experiencing a delay in receiving permits from the Cook County Forest Preserve. The
Forest Preserve is not issuing permits to Edison until they and Edison reach an agreement
for fair compensation for Edison's use of Forest Preserve property. A verbal commitment
to release the permits was provided to Elk.Grove by the General Superintendent of the
Forest Preserve. Alan Boffice is working with the staff at Edison and the Forest Preserve
to facilitate the issuance of the permits subject to Edison committing to pay compensation
back to the Forest Preserve on a retroactive basis.
ED
EWAL%ALONG COSMANROAD
The Committee discussed the status of the project and the alternatives: No
sidewalk; asphalt sidewalk on north(Forest Preserve) side of Cosman; and possible
involuntary annexation of the two unincorporated homes on south side of Cosman and
seek to have them meet Village Code by installing a sidewalk in front of their homes.
After considerable deliberation, the consensus of the Committee was to
recommend the installation of a 5 foot asphalt path on the north(Forest Preserve) side of
Cosman from Charles to Winston with the, associated"T"connections to existing
sidewalk. The asphalt path should be installed after Commonwealth Edison
undergrounds the electrical lines to avoid damaging the new path.
LANDMEIER PUBLIC WORKS GARAGE
The Committee reviewed the aesthetic concerns raised by a resident of Wildwood.
The Public Works Director indicated that each item was or will soon be addressed except
for the requested installation of an 8 foot fence on a berm. The existing fence is 8 years
old and in"like new"condition. A report from the Director of Public Works will be
presented to the Village Manager for distribution to the Village Board.
The Committee concurred with the improvements as noted by the Public-Works
Director.
WEST SIDE PUBLIC WORKS GARAGE
The
The Committee members reviewed the area previously. The consensus of the
Committee was for staff to examine: screen southeast fence fronting Biesterfield with
plantings; have white goods(old refrigerators, washing machines, etc) removed from
facility; ask the Park District to clean-up their debris; and, add flowers to the front of the
facility for beautification purposes.
SALT STORAGE DOME
The Director of Public Works reported that he is continuing a dialogue with the
State of Illinois for our use of their Biesterfield Road Salt Storage dome. He is hopeful a
satisfactory agreement can be reached shortly.
ELK CROSSING SHOPPING CENTER INTERNAL CROSS-WALK
Chairman Feichter noted that the cross-walk into the Jewel store was faded. The
Assistant Director of Engineering will have Jewel contacted about repainting the cross-
walk on their private property.
SALT CREEK IMPROVEMENTS
The Committee was asked to consider possible modifications or improvements for
Salt Creek as grant funds are thought to be coming available. Ideas include: bank
stabilization; dredging; canoe landing at Walnut Street; aeration; river walk; "Salt
CrtQW' identification sign, etc. Any improvements would be done in cooperation with
the Park District and no recommendations are needed at this time.
The consensus of the Committee was for staff to examine placing a"Salt Creek"
identification sign at the bridge on JFK/Morrison Boulevard. These signs would be like
the signs Cook County installed on the bridge at Arlington Heights Road and the bridge
at Devon Avenue.
The meeting adjourned at 11:10 am.
