Several wells are in need of extensive repairs: ➢ Well#2 at Busse and Touhy • Well#6 at Busse and Greenleaf ➢ Well#13 on Mississippi Lane-just south of Nerge Road Village Manager Perrin explained the Joint Action Water Agency's (J.A.W.A.)water transmission system and stressed the neeed for the Village to have a reliable backup water supply system of sufficient capacity, since water service is critical and essential to the well being of residents and businesses of this,Community. J.A.W.A. does not have a backup water supply system. Each member community is responsible for providing their own water supply in the event of a J.A.W.A.failure. Director Cech explained the basis for his recommended capacity of the backup water supply. The Committee reviewed the various repair strategies. The Committee unanimously recommended for Village Board consideration: ➢ Approval of Repair Strategy#2 t1lat repaired all three(3) inoperable wells and authorized Staff to proceed with the planned water system interconnection with the Village of Roselle. ➢ Authorization for Staff to secure a well repair contractor in an estimated amount of $255,000 from the Water and Sewer Fund. (This figure includes Superintendent Stukel's request for$18,000 additional funds for cleaning and televising the well- casing pipe prior to commencing with repairs.)
