SALT CREEK STREAMBANK STABILIZATION PROJECT
The meeting began with a 30 minute presentation by Melcy Pond of Earth
Tech. The presentation outlined the current condition of Salt Creek
with respect to streambank erosion. Photographs were used to
illustrate the various classifications of mild, intermediate, and
severe erosion along the salt creek streambanks. The presentation
concluded with various types of vegetative stabilization that could be
utilized to stabilize streambanks and alleviate the streambank erosion.
Following the presentation, an extended period of time was allocated to
the discussion and answering of questions posed by those present.
During the open question portion of the meeting, several residents
voiced their concern about the .project. A few residents had concerns
regarding how the project would be funded and if property assessments
would be a part of that funding. A couple residents voiced their
concern that the proposed solutions would not work and perhaps the
increasing upstream discharge should be the focus of solving the
erosion problem. The majority of residents, however, were in support
of the project, claiming that they had few if any alternate means to
assist them in solving the erosion problem.

The meeting was adjourned with the understanding that all comments
would be collected and compiled through April 30`h, at which time they
would be presented to the Committee for further discussion and to
consider a final recommendation to the Village Board.
