Chairman Rettberg asked members to introduce themselves and tell
briefly why they were interested in being a part of this
Commission.
Chairman Rettberg then gave a brief explanation of how and why this
Commission was formed and also some of his ideas and thoughts the
direction the Commission will be taking in the future.
President Gallitano briefed the group on some of his ideas on the
overall picture for the project as well as his expectation of this
group.
It was the consensus of the group that one of the first tasks was
to form an overall comprehensive plan. Any member of the
Commission wishing to submit a Mission Statement is encouraged to
do so. These should be sent to Nancy Carlson' s attention. Gary
Parrin explained how a consultant could help in this process and to
this end a Request for Qualification (RFQ) prepared by staff was
reviewed. This RFQ will be mailed to the list provided by staff and
members of the Commission were: asked to make additions to the list
if they so desired. This will be mailed on June 21 and we will ask
for a response in five weeks.
Each member of the Commission will receive a copy of the results of
the business survey done a couple of years ago to help them
understand the businesses located in our community. It was decided
that some time would be spent at the next meeting giving Commission
members the opportunity to elaborate on the ideas and concerns they
would like to see addressed by this revitalization program.
Ron Behm offered to arrange a tour of contemporary business parks
to give us a better idea of our competition.
It was decided that this group will meet on a monthly basis on the
second Thursday of each month, therefore, our next meeting will be
on Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. *
The meeting was adjourned at 7 :50 p.m.
