HomeMy WebLinkAboutICRC - 07/11/1996 - INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION COMMISSION MEETING Thursday, July 11, 1996 Present : Paul Rettberg, Tom Porte, Tom Farrell, John Gullo, Bob Kleckauskas, Jeff Snyder, Gary Parrin and Nancy Carlson Absent - Pat Paulson, Jack Connelly and Ron Behm REQIIEST FOR OUALIFICATION Gary Parrin reported that there has been very good interest shown in our Request for Qualification and since publicizing it, more companies have expressed an interest in the project. The completed Statements of Qualification are to be returned by Friday, July 26 . Gary provided forms which can be used to expedite the evaluation process . Once these have been reviewed, the list will be narrowed down and Request for Proposals will be sent to the desired companies_ MISSION STATEMENT Tom Porte, John Gullo and Ron Behm submitted suggested .mission statements, the group present: then combined the ideas and the following mission statement was agreed upon: "To recommend and implement programs which will maintain and enhance our strong business atmosphere by creating a competitive, functional and aesthetically pleasing industrial/commercial area within Elk Grove Village. " MEMBERS' IDEAS AND CONCERNS Following are some of the ideas and concerns . expressed by Commission members: - Funcionality - Widen driveways - Raise ceiling heights - Traffic - gridlock - Image - Plans for future of Busse Farm - Public Transportation - Parking Garage - Railroad property - Size of trailers - Interchange at Elmhurst - Roadway upkeep - Landscaping and building upkeep - Impact on residential community - Blue ribbon committee to talk to Governor about State involvement - Parkway trees in industrial park - Parking and green areas in front of buildings - Widen aprons-_ Pavers in parkways Aesthetics is important Mowing lawns and weeds Competitive with other communities Commonwealth Edison poles Utility lines underground Use Scouts and other community groups to help maintain TOUR OF INDUSTRIAL PARK Our next meeting will be Thursday, August 1 . We will meet at Village Hall at 4 p.m. to tour our industrial park. At that time Commission Members will see first hand some of the specific concerns. Gary Parrin will arrange for a van and box lunches will be provided after the tour. The remainder of the meeting will be spent in further discussion of the tour as well as reviewing the RFQ' s . Commission members should forward to Nancy Carlson any specific areas they would like. to ;see on tour, so a route can be established. A tour of other industrial parks will be arranged for a later date. MEETING SCHEDULE It was agreed that our meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month. The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 50 p.m.
