The Commission was updated on the status of ICRC projects:
STREET SIGNS 2002
The street name and numeral signs have been installed. The
separation between the name and numeral signs was questioned. A three (3) inch
separation is provided between the signs on both the light pole and post mounted
installations. The sign separation enhances visibility of the panels and is designed in
accordance with State guidelines.
DEVON AVENUE AND BUSSE ROAD INTERSECTION
Preparation of final contract plans for the intersection improvement
is nearing completion. The project is targeted for a contract letting in June 2002 with an
anticipated construction start of August 2002.
DEVON AVENUE WIDENING
The Devon Avenue Widening Improvement has been delayed due to
storm water detention issues raised by DuPage County. The contract will not be let
during the 2002 construction season.
STREET LIGHTING AND LANDSCAPING 2002
Design of these ICRC improvements is proceeding with contract lettings
anticipated in Spring/Summer 2002.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
The Commission had additional discussion regarding the County's Tax
Abatement Program — 6B. The item will be further discussed at the May 2002 ICRC
meeting. Mr. Behm will arrange for a tax advisor to make a presentation at this
meeting.
The supplemental maintenance program for FY'021'03 was discussed.
The Commission approved the construction of two projects. Sidewalks will be
reconstructed at the back of curb along Bonnie Lane from Oakton Street to Landmeier
Road, and Howard Street from Bonnie Lane to Lively Boulevard. Landscaping along
these routes will be planted behind the new sidewalk. The second project in this
program would be the construction of sidewalks at approximately thirty-one (31) rail
spur lines within the Business Park. The estimated construction cost for these projects
is $400,000.
The proposed improvement to construct sidewalks and bus shelters along
Busse Road from Oakton Street to Mark Street has received funding through (DOT's
Division of Public Transportation - Operation Green Light Program. The funding
consists of$75,000 in design engineering (FY'02) and $796,000 in construction (FY'03).
The Commission approved the project which will include the construction of sidewalk
along both sides of Busse Road from Mark Street to Oakton Street. Bus pads and
shelters will be constructed at all designated bus stops (approximately 14 locations).
The addition of a stop at the northeast corner of Busse Road and Mark Street will be
discussed with PACE.
The Commission questioned the status of the installation of the Hometown
Award signs and construction informational signs. These items will be discussed at the
next meeting.
The April meeting of the ICRC was cancelled. The next scheduled
meeting is May 2, 2002. The June 6, 2002 meeting will be a field tour of ICRC projects.
