The Commission was updated on the status of ICRC Projects:
BUSSE ROAD AND LANDMEIER ROAD INTERSECTION
The project has been awarded to Martam Construction. Work is
expected to begin the week of April 14, 2003.
BUSSE ROAD SIDEWALK AND BUS SHELTER IMPROVEMENTS
The project consists of sidewalk construction and the installation of
14 bus shelters along Busse Road from Mark Street to Oakton Street. The
improvement is scheduled for a May/June 2003 bid opening.
LIVELY BOULEVARD AND OAKTON STREET
Right-of-way acquisition for the project is proceeding. The project
will be let in the Fall 2003 with the majority of construction in 2004.

DEVON AVENUE WIDENING
The roadway will be widened to a five-lane cross section from east
of Busse Road to Elmhurst Road. The Cook County Highway Department has
scheduled an April 24, 2003 contract letting for the project.
WILLOW CREEK BOX CULVERTS
Preliminary design engineering will begin in May 2003 for the
rehabilitation or replacement of the pipe culverts under Arthur Avenue, Pratt Boulevard
and Lunt Avenue.
The Commission reviewed concept drawings for improvements to well
sites, Village properties, and pump station sites within the Business Park. The well site
improvements will include ornamental fencing, vinyl coated chain link fence,
landscaping, tree trimming and brick columns. The provision of lighting within the well
sites will be evaluated. Well sites located off the street right-of-way will be designed
with a brick column entry, however ornamental fencing will not be provided. The Village
sites will consist of landscape plantings. Pump station improvements will consist of
landscaping and painting of equipment. The paint color should be similar to the water
tanks recently painted in the Business Park. The Commission did not feel that brick
pavers or fencing was necessary at the pump station locations. The brick column
signage will be Option "A"as shown on the conceptual drawing. The signs will be metal
with raised lettering.
The street sign replacement program was discussed. The Commission
approved a concept design for the signs. Street signs will be mounted on a single post
with a sign frame. The poles will have a plain top cap and decorative bases will not be
provided. The sign posts and fencing will match the dark bronze street light color.
Alternative street light designs for use on the arterial street system were
reviewed. The Commission preferred the use of an aluminum pole with a davit mast
arm (Alternative No.1). The street light fixture preferred by the Commission is a fixture
similar to the one used on collector routes (Alternative No. 2). The design of this
combination will be further evaluated. The pole and fixture would be dark bronze in
color.
The "Shop Elk Grove" directory is ready for printing. The directory will be
sent to all residents and businesses in Elk Grove Village. The directory lists shopping
centers, service businesses, and outlet stores. The directory will be updated yearly and
will be posted on the Village website. The Village is evaluating advertising "Shop Elk
Grove"at the Elk Grove Cinema.
