Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly scheduled
meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on October 26,2004 ,this Executive Session
was called to consider a Personnel matter.

Personnel
Since the Daily Herald has not published the Fencepost article replying to comments written by
Elk Grove Firefighter, Peter Gutzmer, the Mayor asked for the Board's permission to have the
response letter shared with the Fire Department. The consensus of the Board was for the
Village Manager to make the letter available for all fire stations through the Department
management.
There is a reference at the end of the letter to whether the actions of Gutzmer are for union
sympathy. The negotiating team will be meeting with the interest arbitrator in the coming days
and need to be mindful of it being brought out at the meeting.
