Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. in the Council
Chambers, 901 Wellington Av. , Elk Grove Village with the above people
attending.
The first item of business was to hear Docket No. 92-10
concerning reconstructing a deck at 1379 Berkenshire that encroached
15 feet, 4 inches into the required 20 foot rear yard. The
petitioners, Robert A. and Laurie L. Hendrichs were sworn in and
presented reasons why it was necessary to have a variation. The
main reason presented was they were reconstructing a deck that was
existing for 23 years and had no previous record of a permit or
variation.
There were no neighbor complaints in writing or presented
at the meeting and the Board voted unanimously to "Do Grant".
The second item of business was to hear Docket No. 92-11
concerning constructing a deck at 1001 Tennessee that encroached
approximately 15 inches into the required 8 foot side yard and
approximately 11 feet, 10 inches into the required 20 foot rear yard
set back.
The petitioners, James and Celeste Pydo were sworn in and
presented reasons why it was necessary to have a variation. They
claimed they didn't know they needed a permit and were stopped by
the Building Department after they were well into the project. They
also thought they could build as they did when they saw other
neighborhood decks.
It was pointed out to them that there were other options
and they should have secured a permit prior to starting. The Board
partially felt that with no neighbor complaints, and the visual
appearance of this construction, it would be a hardship to remove
the violation so they voted 3 to 1 to "Do Grant". R. Phillips was
the "no" vote.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned
at 9:15 P.M.
