Chairman Brandt called the meeting to order at 7:12 p.m, in Meeting
Room A, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village
Residential Zoning Variation - Docket 93-2
649 Elk Grove Boulevard
The petitioner, Mr. Michael Mesh explained that the main reasons for
requesting the variation were to provide security for his family and to
provide an enclosed area for the family dog. He pointed out that Tonne
Road was a one way street on the east frontage.
Mr. Trudan asked if any consideration or evaluation was given to the
adequacy of clear vision provided for motorists to observe pedestrian
traffic on the east sidewalk when exiting the driveway located to the
south of their property. Mr. Mesh said he felt the fence would not
present a problem.
Chairman Brandt clarified the petitioner' s reasons for the hardship
demonstrated.
Mr. Staddler questioned the need for additional area for the dog
observing that the yard area would be quite large even without the
variation.
Mr. Phillips explained that he did not recognize that a hardship exists
and pointed out that security would still be achieved with a fence
located in conformance with the ordinance. He also observed that the
additional area sought was in his opinion insignificant.
Some discussion followed with the other Zoning Board of Appeals
members. Chairman Brandt then asked for a motion.
The motion was made by Mr. Phillips to deny the request and seconded by
Mr. Carey. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned
at 7:41 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
! Steven Trudan
