Inzerello, Chairman Mrs. K. ZiZZO Mrs, C. Prochno Mr. R. Keegan Mr. J. Oliveto Absent: Mr. R. Phillips Staff: Mr. R. Ray, Plan Reviewer Local Residents: Mr. Howard - 816 Brantwood Mrs. Wadel - 900 Brantwood chairman Inzerello called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and read aloud the Legal Notice for Docket 94-7, petition for Residential Zoning Variation, 97 Keswick. Mrs. Starr owner of 97 Keswick explained the reason for seeking the variation to place a solid fence seven(7) feet into the required ten(10) foot set back on corner lot was to insure added safety for her four(4) small children. Mrs. Starr stated that with increased traffic in the area coupled with some of her children having the ability to climb a chain link fence, her only alternative was to put up a solid fence. Chairman Inzerello then opened the floor to any Board member or Mr. Ray. The Board asked exactly where was the fence going to be put up and Mr. Ray asked what type andhow high. Mrs. Starr answered by saying that the fence would be from the side of her house to the bushes and not along the sidewalk down the side of the bushes. she also stated that the fence would be board on board and would be four(4) feet high. At that time there were no further questions, to which Chairman Inzerello opened the floor to anybody else who would like to be heard. Mr. Howard of 816 Brantwood first spoke and said he was against it because the Starr's do not take care of the their bushes along the sidewalk and what makes anyone think they' ll take care of a fence. Mrs. Wadel of 900 Brantwood then spoke and said she was for it because she understood the Starr's dilemma with small children and if put up right would not look bad. Chairman Inzerello then asked one last time if anybody wanted to add anything else. Mr. Ray asked the Starr-s how a four (4) foot fence would stop children . from getting over, and then asked how the fence would be - tied to the bushes preventing the children from squeezing through. The Starrs replied that if need be they would go to a five (5) foot fence then tie that fence to the bushes with chicken wire. Chairman Inzerello asked for a motion. A motion was made by Mr. Keegan and seconded by Mr. Oliveto not to grant the variation. The motion was passed by a four to one vote. (Mrs. Prochno voted to grant variation. ) Before leaving the Starrs asked the Board why? Since they felt they had not been given a reason. Chairman Inzerello said that was the decision of the Board and asked if anybody would like to add to that. Mrs. Zizzo said she understood their reason but felt the Starrs had other options (bushes and/or six(6) foot chain link) that would fall within the zoning ordinance and also insure safety for her family. The meeting was adjourned at 7:26 p.m. Respectfully submitted, , 1 Robert A.
