Phillips, Chairman P. Kaplan K. Zizzo R. Herrick M. Coffman J. Oliveto Absent: None Staff: J. Zaucha, Plan Reviewer S. Trudan, Building Inspector Supervisor/Plan Reviewer Residential zoning variation - Docket 95-12 1458 William Clifford Chairman Phillips called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and summarized the legal notice for the hearing. Petitioners, Robert and Lydia Beam were sworn in and asked by Mr. Phillips what particular hardship(s) necessitated a variation to be granted. Mr. Beam responded by stating that the aesthetic value of their home would be improved and that the front entry of their house currently has no protection from the elements. The discussion was then directed towards how large the proposed structure would be, what type of materials would be used, and whether or not the existing concrete slab could adequately support the porch roof load. Mr. Zaucha explained that the structural integrity of the porch slab has not yet been determined due to the fact that in all probability, there was never an inspection made of the slab. Mr. Zaucha concluded that the concrete slab was probably poured without a permit. Mr. Beam than replied by stating that he obtained a building permit for remodeling his basement and that his contractor (Drew Construction) assured him that the porch slab was included on the permit. Mr. Zaucha pointed out that the possibility of the concrete slab being included on the basement permit was very unlikely. Mr. zaucha than noted that due to the fact that the permit file for the basement remodeling job is currently being put on microfilm at vital Records, it was not possible for him to verify that the porch slab was done without a permit. Mr. Herrick motioned for a vote which was seconded by Mrs. Coffman. The vote was unanimously in favor of granting the variation. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Phillips at 7:25 p.m. Respectfully submitted,1u JUUU//names S.
