Representing Elk Grove Baptist Church; Jim Brown was sworn in by Acting Chairman Kaplan and asked to explain the church's proposal. Mr. Brown stated that due to growth in the congregation, classrooms are becoming over crowded, storage space is becoming scarce, and the auditorium needs expansion. Mr. Brown presented a model of the proposed construction and described the design layout. Questions were raised by board members whether it would be feasible to design a layout which would not encroach into the setback and yet achieve the desired result. Mr. Brown responded by stating that the current design reflects the most efficient, cost effective utilization of space and materials. Eight(8) neighboring residents were present for the hearing and asked various questions. A particular concern of the residents was the possible adverse effect on water detention in the surrounding area. It was pointed out to the residents that a thorough examination of the problem would be done by the Villages' Engineering Department. Before a vote was taken, Raymond Herrick announced that he would abstain from voting due to the fact that he is a member of the church's congregation. Mr. Herrick did note for the record that possible engineering problems related to ground water detention should be thoroughly addressed by the Village. At 7:25 p.m. , Mrs. Coffman motioned for a vote which was seconded by Mrs. Zizzo. The vote was unanimously (Herrick Abstaining) in favor of granting the variation. The meeting was adjourned by Acting Chairman Kaplan at 7:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, James S.
