zoning Variation - Docket 96-14
Chairman Phillips called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and
summarized the legal notice for the hearing. Petitioner Mrs. Paula
Karch was sworn in by Chairman Phillips and asked to state her case.
Mrs. Karch explained that when she and her husband bought the house in
June of 1995, they realized that due to the size of the property, a
shed would be necessary to store yard tools. They then contacted the
village Engineering Department to discuss possible locations Mrs.
Karch went on to say that the proposed location was recommended by the
Village's Engineering Department and that necessary easement waivers
were obtained from the utility companies. Mr. zaucha then stated that
the Engineering Department may have discussed the issue as it pertains
to the effects on drainage, but from a zoning standpoint, no
recommendations would have been given due to the fact that the
Engineering Department does not review zoning.
Mrs. Karch explained that the hardship was that her odd shaped lot made
it difficult to meet zoning requirements. Locations that would meet
zoning are steeply pitched and/or obstructed. Mrs. Karch further
explained that her neighbors had no objections to the shed being
installed which was reflected in signed petitions which were
submitted. Mrs. Karch also stated that the proposed location is
actually behind the neighboring property owner's garage, thereby not
creating a problem with her neighbor.
At 7:22 p.m. , Mr. Kaplan motioned for a vote which was seconded by Mrs.
Coffman. The vote was unanimously in favor of granting the variation.
The meeting was adjourned by chairman Phillips at 7:24 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
aures S. zaucha.
