Zoning Variation - Docket #99-4
Chairman Robert Phillips called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and
read the legal notice. The petitioner, Mrs. Joyce Krajecki of 1149
S. Glenn Trail was sworn in and asked to present her case.
Mrs. Krajecki explained that she had already obtained a permit to
install a detached garage on her property in an approved location
and that when the contractor .located the garage on the property, it
was discovered that it would be difficult to maneuver vehicles in
and out of the garage. Mrs. Krajecki also stated that she and her
husband wished to increase property values by installing a two-car,
detached garage.
Mr. Phillips asked if there were any other reasons for wanting to
install the garage. Mrs. Krajecki responded by indicating that
extra storage space was also needed.
Mr. Franke asked if there would be more space to the property line
at the rear corner of the garage than at the front corner of the
garage. Mrs. Krajecki responded, yes. Mr. Penley commented that
the garage could not encroach into the 10-foot utility easement.
Mr. Schumm asked if there had been any comments made by neighboring
property owners. Mrs. Krajecki indicated that her neighbors have
had only positive comments about the proposed garage. Mr. Kaplan
asked if the existing attached garage would be converted into
living space. Mrs. Krajecki responded, yes.
Mr. Phillips asked Mr. Zaucha if the Engineering Department had any
comments. Mr. Zaucha indicated that he consulted with the
Engineering Department and was informed that the proposed garage
would not cause any drainage problems.

Mr. Phillips asked the public if there were any comments. A
neighboring resident, Mr. Scott Moore (1151 S. Glenn Trail) ,
expressed to the Board his approval of the variation request.
Another resident who had unrelated questions about floor drains in
detached garages was referred by Mr. Penley to contact the Elk
Grove Village Engineering Department.
At 7:17 PM Mr. Penley motioned to grant the variation which was
seconded by Mr. Kaplan. A vote was taken which was unanimously in
favor of granting the variance. Mr. Phillips then instructed Mrs.
Krajecki to call the Village Clerk to find out when the variation
request would be placed on the Village Board's agenda. Mrs.
Krajecki indicated that she would contact the Clerk's office. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:20 PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
