Chairman, Paul Kaplan called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. and summarized the legal notice
for the hearing. The petitioner, Mr. Mark Evans was sworn in and asked to state his case.
Mr. Evans explained that an exterior stairway for his proposed basement is desired to provide a
direct emergency fire exit from the basement. Mr. Evans was asked several questions by Zoning
Board members, which included discussion of amending the variance request to allow a 7-foot
encroachment, as opposed to the originally requested 6-foot encroachment.
At 7:23, a motion was made by Mr. Rodgers to grant an amended variance request. The amended
variance request would permit construction of an exterior basement stairway, which would encroach
a maximum of 7'-0" into the required 25-foot setback. The motion was seconded by Mr. Oliveto. A
vote was taken which was unanimously in favor of approving the amended variance request. The
petitioner was advised that he would be notified by the Village Clerk's office, of when the docket
would be scheduled on the Village Board agenda. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
