Johnson Trustee James P. Petri Trustee Samuel L. Lissner Village Clerk Ann I . Walsh Village Attorney George B. Knickerbocker ALSO PRESENT: Police Chief Schmidt Police Officer George Winkler Arthur K. Hayashi Commissioner Johnson called the public hearing to order at 7 :30 p.m. and noted for the record that the respondent had received notice of this hearing. Officer George Winkler and Mr. Art Hayashi, owner of the Sushi-Ya Hayashi Restaurant, 1201 E. Higgins Road were called as witnesses and duly sworn-in. Officer Winkler gave testimony that on the night of January 11, 2002 an employee of the Sushi--Ya Hayashi Restaurant was observed serving alcoholic beverages to two underage informants who were participating in an undercover Police operation. Neither informant had been requested to show identification of age. Mr Arthur K. Hayashi was called as a witness and responded to inquiries of the Commission. A complete testimony of Officer Winkler and Mr. Hayashi is contained within the court reporter' s transcript that is attached hereto and made a part thereof. Upon hearing testimony given, the Liquor Commission adjourned to deliberate in closed session. Upon return to open session, the Liquor Commissioner addressed the owner and stated that on that specific evening the Police Department checked 15 locations and Sushi-Ya was the only location to fail . The Mayor also expressed his disappointment that Mr. Hayashi had failed to have some of the waitresses obtain B.A.S .S .E.T. training. Liquor Commission Dlic Hearing 2 March 12, 2002 The Liquor Commissioner then imposed the following orders and fines : 1 . The Respondent shall pay a fine in the amount of Four Hundred Dollars ($400 .00) . 2 . The Respondent shall pay the cost of the Court Reporter within ten (10) days from the receipt of a statement of costs from the Village. 3 . All of the Respondent ' s employees must complete B.A.S .S.E.T. training by May 1, 2002 . The Public Hearing adjourned at 7 :55 p.m. ,f LV' LL Ai}�'r.
