HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 07/18/2006 - Y c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON JULY 18,2006 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro,DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of June 6, 2006 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Police Consultants, Invoice#4477 dated 6/13/06 in the amount of$516.00 for psychological evaluation of police candidate . 2. Police Consultants,Invoice#4486 dated 6/21/06 in the amount of$516.00 for psychological evaluation of police candidate . 3. Alexian Brothers Corporate Health, Invoice#192975 dated 6/12/06 in the amount of$607.00 for pre-employment medical examination for police candidate. 4. Alexian Brothers Corporate Health, Invoice#194132 dated 6/18/06 in the amount of$669.00 for pre-employment medical examination for police candidate. 5. Police Consultants,Inc.,Invoice 4510 dated 7/13/06 in the amount of$516.00 for psychological evaluation of police candidate. 6. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 15525 dated 7/10/06 in the amount of $250.00 for polygraph examinations for two police candidate. It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. Memo from Police Officer announcing her retirement effective 61129/06. 2. Memo from Police Officer announcing his retirement effective 6/2/06. 3. Memo from Elk Grove Village Professional Firefighters Association Local 2340 to Fire Chief granting an exemption for the waiting period for the next fire lieutenant promotional examination. 4. Memo from Chief Miller appointing Batallion Chief to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief effective 6/26/06. 5. Memo from Chief Miller appointing Fire Lieutenant to the rank of Batallion Chief effective 6/26/06. 6. Memo to Human Resources advising that Police Officer has satisfactorily completed his probationary period. 7. Notice of Suspension to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations, Section 26.1.1A, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). 8. Written Reprimand to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations, Section 26.1.12A, Rule 32 (Being absent from duty without proper authorization). 9. Memo from Chief Schmidt requesting that the Commission promote Police Officer to the rank of Sergeant effective 8/7/06. 10. Letter to Police Officer promoting him to the rank of Sergeant effective 8/7/06. 11. Memo from Chief Miller advising that firefighter has satisfactorily completed his probationary period. 12. Congratulations letter to Police Officer who retired effective 6/29/06. OLD BUSINESS - None NEW BUSINESS 1. Final probationary review of Firefighter hired on 8/8/05 2. Meeting with Dave Christiansen of PCI and Chief Miller to discuss Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process. 3. Discuss request from former police officer for retirement commission card. PENDING 1. Police Officer Hiring Process—Authorization to fill one vacancy. Sixteen names remain on the eligibility list that will expire on March 1, 2008. 2. Firefighter Hiring Process—No authorization to fill vacancies at this time. Twenty-eight names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on February 2, 2007. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, E.
