Agenda for VB Meeting 10-10-06 2
C) Consideration to adopt Ordinance No. 3101 (attached) amending the Village Code of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Title 6, Section 6-4-5-2 A. Parking Restrictions
and Prohibitions: Residential Areas for Parkchester Road.
(After a review of the traffic flow patterns in the vicinity of Byrd School, the
Police Department has determined that increased parking restrictions are needed
near the school crosswalk on the north and south side of Parkchester Road during the
school hours.
(Last year, Byrd School changed the morning entrance procedure for the safety
of-the children
(The change has resulted in an increase in the number of parents dropping off
children on Parkchester Road, instead of using the front drop-off area.
(This road was not designed to be a major drop-off and pick-up location.
(The increase in vehicles in the area has caused a traffic safety concern for the
students due to the curved road that can be reduced by increasing the restricted
parking near the crosswalk.
(A report from the Chief of Police, recommending approval, is attached)
