HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 12/19/2006 - c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON DECEMBER 19,2006 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J.Zettek Building,901 Wellington Avenue,Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of November 14, 2006 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Police Consultants, Inc., Invoice 4593 dated 11/30/2006 in the amount of $515.00forpsychological evaluation ofpolice candidate. 2. Alexian Brothers Corporate Health, Invoice 211927 dated 11/1912006 in the amount of$607.00 for medical evaluation/examination ofpolice candidate. 3. Police Consultants, Inc., Invoice 4584 dated 11/20/2006 in the amount of $516.00 for psychological evaluation ofpolice candidate. 4. ice Max, Invoice 464936 dated 12108106in the amount of$93.00 for mist. office supplies. It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Letter to police candidate advising that he did not pass his psychological evaluation. 2. Letter to Chief of Police requesting comments/criticisms on performance of Probationary Ofc. Mathis, and scheduling her six month probationary review for Thursday, January 18,2007 at 6:00 p.m. 3. Letter from former police employee regarding issuance of retirement commission card. 4. Letter to Brandon Bos appointing him to the rank of Police Officer effective January 2,2007. 5. Memo to Firefighters regarding deadline for Letters of Intent to Participate in the Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process. OLD BUSINESS 1. None NEW BUSINESS I. Meeting with Chief Schmidt to discuss various aspects of the Police Officer Testing Process. 2. Meeting with Fire Chief to discuss various aspects of the Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process. 3. Discussed letter from former police lieutenant requesting that the Commission issue him a retirement commission card. Motion to issue retirement commission card. Moved: Chairman Shapiro Seconded: Commissioner Kontek Ayes: Chairman Shapiro, Commission Kontek Nays: Commissioner Ehrke The Chairman declared the motion carried. PENDING 1. Police Officer Hiring Process—Authorization to fill two vacancies at this time. Five names remain on the eligibility list that will expire on March 1, 2008. 2. Firefighter Hiring Process—No authorization to fill vacancies at this time. Twenty-eight names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on February 2, 2007. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, r E.
