MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MARCH 20,2007
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:55 p.m.in the Charles J.Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue,Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro,DDS,and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke,
and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of February 11, 2007 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Integrity Business Forms, Invoice 24570 dated 2/22/2007 in the amount of
$134.17 for Commission letterhead.
2. Police Consultants,Invoice 4638 dated 2/14/2007 in the amount of$8307.00
for administration of police officer examination on 2/11/2007.
3. Office Depot, Invoice 377114563-001 dated 2/27/2007 in the amount of$20.40
for file folders.
4. Office Max, Invoice 832503 dated 2/23/2007 in the amount of$68.86 for office
supplies.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Notice of Suspension to Police Officer for violating Rules &Regulations of the
Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct,Rule
49(failure to appear in court when required or scheduled).
2. Memos from Chief Schmidt and his staff regarding constructive
comments/criticisms on the performance of Probationary Police Officers
Malamis, McIntyre and Patras.
3. Letter from Edward R.Kirby and Associates, Inc.,promoting their investigative
services.
4. Letter and email from Alexian Brothers Corporate Health announcing price
increases for new hire physicals effective April 1, 2007.
5. Memo from Deputy Chief Larry Hammar announcing his retirement from the
Department on Friday,May 4, 2007.
6. Written Reprimand to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the
Elk Grove Village Police Department,Section 26.1.1A,Rules of Conduct,Rule
32 (Being absent from duty without proper authorization).

1. None
NEW BUSINESS
1. Meeting with Chief Miller to discuss firefighter testing process and fire
lieutenant testing process.
PENDING
1. Police Officer Hiring Process—Authorization to fill two vacancies at this time.
All names on the eligibility list have been exhausted.
2. Firefighter Hiring Process—five vacancies;no authorization to replace at this
time. Eligibility List has expired.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
