Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue,Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro,DDS, and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke,
and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of April 17,2007 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 15970 dated 5/14/2007 in the amount of
$125.00 for polygraph examination of police officer candidate.
2. Illinois Fire Chiefs Association,Invoice dated 5/4/2007 in the amount of
$2,730.00 for administration of the Assessment Center Component for the Fire
Lieutenant's Promotional Process.
3. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 15933 dated 4/21/2007 in the amount of
$875.00 for polygraph examinations of seven police officer candidates.
4. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 15945 dated 4/27/2007 in the amount of
$375.00 for polygraph examinations of three police officer candidates.
5. Daily Herald, Invoice T3923067 dated 5/12/07 in the amount of$31.05 for
publication of meeting reschedule.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memo to Village Clerk advising that the Regular Meeting of the Board of Fire
and Police Commissioners scheduled for May 15, 2007 has been rescheduled to
May 22, 2007.
2. Memo to fire lieutenant candidates advising schedule for assessment center
component of the promotional process.
3. Memo to Human Resources Coordinator requesting seniority information and
breaks in service for fire lieutenant candidates.
4. Memo to fire lieutenant candidates advising schedule for written examination.
5. Memo to Police Chief requesting comments/constructive criticism regarding
the six-month performance of probationary police officer hired on 9/25/2006.
Probationary review has been scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday,June 12,
2007.
6. Memo from Police Chief regarding CALEA Assessment scheduled for June
2007.
7. Appointment letter to Ofc. Michael Gaspari promoting him to the rank of
Sergeant effective May 7,2007.
8. Congratulations letters to promoted police personnel: M. Kirkpatrick to the
rank of Deputy Police Chief and C. Walsh to the rank of Commander.

1. Discuss fire lieutenant promotional process schedule and firefighter testing
process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. None
PENDING
1. Police Officer Hiring Process—three vacancies; authorization to replace three.
Thirty-six names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on
March 30, 2009.
2. Firefighter Hiring Process—five vacancies;no authorization to replace at this
time. Eligibility List has expired.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
