Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 11:45 a.m. in the Auditorium of Elk Gro
High School, 500 W. Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke,
and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of January 18, 2007 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Chicago Tribune, Invoice#023216001 dated 1/31/07 in the amount of$549.00
and Invoice 015642001 dated 1/14/07 in the amount of$837.00 for publication
of police officer examination advertisements.
2. Suburban Chicago Newspapers, Invoice S040612 1000 dated 1/21/07 in the
amount of$773.99 for publication of police officer examination advertisement.
3. Spanish American Newspaper, Invoice 60123 dated 1/28/07 in the amount of
$428.00 for publication of police officer examination advertisement.
4. Daily Herald, Invoice T3872648 dated 1/17/07 in the amount of$800.00 for
publication of police officer examination advertisement.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memo to Village Clerk advising that the regular board meeting for the Board of
Fire&Police Commissioners originally scheduled for February 20, 2007 has
been changed to Sunday, February 11, 2007. Copy of the Meeting Notice
generated by the Village Clerk's office attached.
2. Memo from Probationary Officer John Tylka announcing his resignation
effective January 19,2007.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discuss revised schedule for Fire Lieutenant Testing Process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussed schedule for police candidate multiple group interviews and begin
preparations for firefighter testing process.
PENDING
1. Police Officer Hiring Process—Authorization to fill one vacancy at this time.
All names on the eligibility list have been exhausted.
2. Firefighter Hiring Process—No authorization to fill vacancies at this time.
Eligibility list expired on February 2, 2007.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11:50 p.m.
