AT&T Project Lightspeed
After a brief discussion,it was the consensus of the-Committee to lift the moratorium on facilities
construction in the rights-of-way for a total of six AT&T cabinets. AT&T has selected the general
location of these six cabinets and the Director of Engineering and Communiiy Development will
offer guidance to the exact location. These cabinets will create a test area for AT&T's internet-
based services, which will expand Village-wide in the future.
Fall Villager
Upon making minor modifications to the newsletter,the consensus of the Committee was to approve
the Fall 2007 Villager newsletter for distribution.
Hotel/Motel Tax
After a brief discussion,it was the consensus of the Committee to increase Elk Grove's Hotel/Motel
Tax from 5%to 6%. The tax rate has not been increased in over fifteen years and some of the
Village's neighbors currently charge between 6% and 8%. The money earned through this I%
increase will be put toward the Tour of Elk Grove's activity budget.
Cost of Living Report
The Mayor made a presentation to the Committee regarding the cost of living in Elk Grove Village
compared to the surrounding communities. This presentation showed that after the bond issuance
for the new Administration and Public Safety Complex, Elk Grove residents will still obtain the best
value for their taxes compared to those that live in neighboring cities.
