HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 09/18/2007 - c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 18,2007 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Chief's Conference Room of the Police Department, 321 Bond Street,Elk Grove Village,and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro,DDS, and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of August 21,2007 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Alexian Brothers Corporate Health,Invoice 243453 dated August 13,2007 in the amount of$680.00 for pre-employment medical evaluation of police candidate. 2. FedEx Kinkos,Invoice 6300000842 dazed March 31,2007 in the amount of $14.94 for lamination charges. 3. Suburban Chicago Newspapers,Invoice in the amount of$520.47 for publication of firefighter ad. It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo to Human Resources Coordinator advising that Ofc. Brandi Mathis has satisfactorily completed her probationary period effective 7/3/07. 2. Letter to fire applicants confirming receipt of their registration form and advising reporting instructions for September 23,2007. 3. Written Reprimand from Chief Schmidt to employee for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct,Rule 11 (Incompetence of inefficiency in the performance of duty. 4. Response memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the performance of probationary officer Michael Patras. 5. Response memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the performance of probationary officer Michael McIntyre. 6. Recap from Chief Miller regarding the survey to other departments concerning credit for military service. ; eO tomk.El _ ' r 7. Memo to Village Clerk advising meeting location change to 321 Bond Street,Elk Grove Village, for the regular September 18,2007 Commission meeting. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed schedule for firefighter examination. NEW BUSINESS 1. Illinois Fire&Police Commissioners Fall 2007 Seminar Brochure 2. Discuss survey results of neighboring municipalities awarding military points for original appointments to the ranks of firefighter and police officer. A motion was made by Chairman Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Kontek to table this topic until the winter months. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried PENDING 1) Police Officer Hiring Process—two vacancies;authorization to replace two. Twenty-six names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on March 30,2009. 2) Firefighter Hiring Process—seven vacancies; authorization to replace two at this time. Eligibility List has expired. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned.
