Directors Report:
Tonight the Director brought the Environmental Health Inspectors to speak with board.
Kristin Gonser—Started with Cook County
Christitne Czarnecki- She started at Lake County
Both have degrees in nutrition.
The majority of what they do is food inspections. Christine does pools and Chrsistie does
nursing homes. They both respond to food born illiness complaints and garbage
complaints. They do on site inspections and educational services. The new Southern
Bell restaurant will be opening on Monday. They do work together to teach educational
inservices and do inspections.
They want to recognize high-risk restaurants that score a 90% or higher by sending them
a certificate. Restaurants are inspected twice for medium risk (Risk H) or three times for
a high risk (Risk III). If a follow-up inspection is scheduled, they will have a 10 day
notice to comply before the next inspection.
Mr. Pace asked what would happen if a business fell out of compliance and still displayed
the certificate. Kristin informed the board that the certificates would be issued for the
prior year, so they would not receive a new one for the next year.
Dick Scholten asked about Pizza Hut. When a restaurant has low scores, they meet with
owners. Then they have a hearing. They sign a contract agreeing to maintain high scores
throughout the entire probation. If the issues are still not corrected, then the restaurant is
shut down for 24 hours. Pizza Hut was one of these businesses. A score of a 60 or below
is cause for closure. The inspectors will allow the business to stay open if they correct
the things right away, so there is an adjusted score.
Mike Tuozzo asked what the difference was between a P-Ticket and an L-Ticket. P-
Ticket is a fine of$50 and then the L-Ticket is higher stakes.
P-Ticket$50 fine
L-Ticket Court ticket
Sweet Baby Rays(On Higgins-Used to be Woodys) and Southern Bell will be opening
soon.
600 flu vaccines and another 800 came in today with 300 more will be in next week.
There are clinics on the 28`t'from 5:30 -7:30 and then the 30`x'from 1-3. The Director
will schedule another one in December to try to get rid of the vaccines. The Director did
cancel some of the vaccines since there is adequate supply.
Chairman Christie asked about if the upper level managements are being contacted about
the issues. Not all information gets to them due to the high turnover.
Chairman Christie asked about the Best Western pool situation and Kristin informed the
board that they are now in compliance.
Next blood drive will be in January. Yard waste will continue until December 15th. The
0 two weeks of January, Waste Management will collect those.
The inspectors were at the Excel Inn. There was a complaint that someone had bed bugs.
The problem hasn't spread into the other rooms. The Director hasn't noticed bed bug
complaints except for the past two years.
The Chairman asked for a motion that the board approve the cancellation of the
December board meeting. The motion was approved by Anne Feichter and seconded by
Lois.
